I have never done a juice cleanse in my entire life.  I always heard about them around the awards season when all of the celebrities are doing crazy juice cleanses to shed the extra few pounds before slipping into their Armani Privage, Vintage Valentino, or Chanel gowns.  To be honest, I thought that those cleanses were just a quick fix and the next day you go back to your normal weight and size.  However, a few weeks ago, the idea of trying a juice cleanse popped into my head.  So, I did it and here we are a week later.

In order for me to provide you with the best possible review, I did a daily dairy of the cleanse and my experience.  The whole reason I decided to do a juice cleanse was so that my body could re-boot.  With the summer coming, we all get in healthy mindsets and this time I am going to make my mindset stick.

Shortly after the New Year, something odd happened… I unconsciously started eating SUPER healthy.  Eating healthy has always been a part of my lifestyle but this time around, I stopped almost all of my unhealthy habits.

In addition to working out at least four days per week in some moderation, I did some research.  I wanted to do something extra special for my body.  After a lot of reading, I decided that the juice cleanse is something I wanted to try.  There are several options to choose from (single day, three days, seven days, and ten days).  Since it was my first juice cleanse I decided to go with a three day session.

Juice Cleanse

Below is my diary and at the bottom I have provided you with a short and sweet review.

Day 1:

9:00am – First juice of the day and I am SUPER excited because I know I am doing something amazing for my body.  The first juice “Zinger” (apple, lemon, ginger, cayenne pepper) was super delicious.  It left me feeling light and energized.

11:00am – Juice number 2 “Zesty Greens” (cucumber, celery, apple, cabbage, lime, kale, and microgreens).  I was still feeling really great.  The juice had all of the fruity flavors I love.

1:00pm – “Hummingbird” (apple, acai, beet, lemon, cayenne pepper) definitely had the “strongest” taste and took me the longest to finish (45 minutes).  I rarely eat beets so this was a bit of a challenge.

2:15pm – I got hungry so I ate a single peanut and drank my fourth juice of the day, “Henna” (carrot, apple, coconut milk, lime).  Even though I still have one more juice that I didn’t try yet, I am confident that Henna will be my favorite.

4:00pm – My fifth juice was “Zesty Greens” (see above).  I eagerly drank the juice but this time around I was less hungry.  I think that the coconut milk from the Henna juice suppressed my appetite.

6:00pm – While Danilo ate a normal dinner, I drank my last juice, Veggiesaurus (carrot, cucumber, celery, apple).  I think by far this was the hardest juice to drink, not because of taste but because of lack of hunger. When I got home from work I was feeling a bit sick so I had a wedge of roasted cabbage and a few teaspoons full of peas.  By the time I got around to my juice, my hunger passed.

Day 2:

9:00am: Zinger.  I woke up this morning feeling great and when it came time to drink my juice I was not hungry at all.

11:00am: Zesty Greens. I am still very full from the day before.

1:00pm: Henna.  I decided to change the order of the juices just because the Henna juice felt much more filling than the rest and I wanted that to be my lunch time juice going forward.

3:00pm: Hummingbird. I am not hungry like I was yesterday nor do I have cravings for solid foods.

5:00pm: Zesty Greens.  With this juice I also had a few teaspoons of peas.

7:00pm: Veggiesaurus.  By the time dinner came around, I enjoyed drinking the juice.  I love all of the fresh flavors and it felt like my dessert drink.

Day 3:

9:00am: Zinger.  My third day made me feel amazing.  I put on my jeans and they slipped right on like a glove.  With these particular jeans, I sometime get discomfort should I get bloated throughout the day.  However, they were beyond comfortable.

11:00am: Zesty Greens. Feeling amazing. The juice tasted delicious and I am excited to be nearing the finish line.

1:00pm: Henna.  I am so happy that I decided to make this my lunch juice as it is so filling.

3:00pm: Hummingbird. I was told that the last day of the cleanse would be difficult but I am not in agreement with that.  I feel really fresh.

5:00pm: Zesty Greens.  Really excited to be nearing the end of the day.

7:00pm: Veggiesaurus. I happily drank my last juice!

REVIEW:

Time to be honest.  I would absolutely recommend this cleanse to anyone on earth.  This was by far the best thing I have done for my body ever.  I am a person who appears to be constantly bloated whether it is that time of the month or not.  After this cleanse my stomach was as flat as it can be. Overall, my health was completely rebooted.  I have praised the juice cleanse to all of my friends and cannot wait to do it again.

In order for you to be successful during the cleanse you should keep in mind these key points:

  • Do not do the cleanse before/during your cycle (sorry guys)!
  • Do not plan to do a cleanse during a vacation.
  • Do not do the cleanse during a week in which you have a wedding, a brunch, etc. You don’t want to be tempted by food.
  • If you are going to “cheat” at least try to eat healthy food such as a salad with minimal dressing, some veggies, or some unsalted nuts.
